Nikos Kouroussis Layers of Time
Alpha C.K. Art Gallery presents an exhibition by Cypriot visual artist Nikos Kouroussis. It is a retroscpective presentation of his digital prints accompanied by a number of new sculptures. His exhibition opens on Wednesday, March 2nd at 7:00 p.m.
This exhibition is a retrospective of the whole course of his digital art with works bearing intense, almost intolerable colors, thus raising with sarcasm social and environmental concerns.
The long artistic course of Nikos Kouroussis is based on his idea that “the medium is not the foundation of artistic creation. The medium converses with the concept and they create the work.”
Nikos Kourousis is considered the pioneer of digital art in Cyprus, since from 1982 he has explored this artistic medium. He interest in digital art first started from his period in New York and the thematic unit “Metamorphosis”, influenced by theatrical masks. This was followed by other visual themes, with images being digitally processed on the computer.
