One of Cyprus’ most popular artists Stass Paraskos presents his latest series of paintings along with a book of poetry he wrote in hi upcoming solo exhibition at Alpha C.K. Art Gallery. The exhibition titled The Diary of Don Cavallo is inspired by a series of poems and sketches by the artist and collected in his book “Verses and Notes from the Diary Don Cavallo”.
The exhibition includes 24 paitings created during the last three-year period and a limited number of drawings from his book of poetry “Verses and Notes from the Diary Don Cavallo”.
An overview of the artist’s oeuvre shows the wide variety of subject matter and themes the artist has dealt with over the span of his fifty-year career and continual discover the introduction of new ideas and experimentation.
Stass Paraskos was born in Anafotia, Larnaca in 1933. He attended Leeds College of Art where he later served as a lecturer at the Leicester College of Art and at the Leeds Polytechnic art department.
His artistic interests are not limited to painting but extend to sculpture, literature and poetry. He is also the founder of the Cyprus College of Art in Lemba, Pafos.
His works can be found in numerous public collections in Great Britain including the Tate Gallery, London, Leeds City Art Gallery, the Arts Council Collection and the University of Leeds, as well as in public and private collections in Cyprus, Greece, the United States, and Canada.
The exhibition opens 19th October 2013 and runs through the 30th of October.
