The young Cypriot sculptor Alexandros Yiorkadjis presents his long-awaited first solo exhibition in Cyprus at Alpha C.K. Art Gallery.
His work is characterized by its anthropocentric character and subject matter which delves into the deeper emotional expressions and contradictions within a person and the ranging emotional relationships between people and society.
Alexandros Yiorkadjis was born in Nicosia in 1981. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti Pietro Vannicci in Perugia, at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Marseille, and at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, from where he graduated with honors. In 2008 he was awarded by the Italian Ministry of Culture the Premio Nazionale delle Arti. He also earned the 2008 National Prize in Arts at the Contemporary Art Exposition in Catania, Italy.
His works are found in the collections of the Italian Ministry of Culture, The Cyprus Central Bank, the Nicos Pattichis Collection in Cyprus, the collections of CYTA and the American Heart Institute in Nicosia as well as in private collections in Cyprus, Italy, Hungary and Romania.
The exhibition opens on 30th November and continues through the 16 of December 2013.
