Dimitris Alithinos was born in Athens in 1945 and is internationally recognized as one of the most significant contemporary Greek artists. He studied paiting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Athens and at the Academia di Belle Arti in Rome, and architecture at the École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris. He prsented in work in many solo and group exhibtions worlwide and represented Greece in numerous significant art events including the Venice Biennale and the the Sao Paolo Biennale.
A significant retrospective exhibition of his work was organized by at the National Gallery of Contemporary Art in Athens in 2015. He has also been awarded a lifefetime achievment award by Association of Art Critics AICA Hellas.
